On Tuesday 16th January 2017, we welcomed primary school children from Blenheim Primary, Mottingham Primary and Scott’s Park Primary to The Ravensbourne School, as they arrived for a motivational day of creative writing. We have collaborated with Pobble, a company committed to inspiring the next generation of writers, to give 500 children across Years 4, 5 and 6 the opportunity to improve their writing skills through interactive workshops and confidence-building writing sessions.

After an enthusiastic morning launch in the Great Hall, pupils were split into smaller groups to compose their own written pieces, supported by their teachers and teaching assistants. An engaging morning of imaginative story writing was followed by a well-deserved lunch, before students re-joined their classmates in the afternoon for a celebratory assembly to showcase their brilliant stories.

The schools will continue to inspire their students with help from Pobble, with each class appointing two ‘Pobble Champions’ to continue the initiative and motivate their peers. Using the global platform, the children have the opportunity become published authors, sharing their own writing with others around the world through Pobble’s community of peers, families and teachers.

Marion Drake, Executive Headteacher of E21C Trust Primaries says, “Part of the schools’ ethos is to help children develop and nurture their talents, and today’s Pobble Conference has done exactly that. The day has been a great success, and it’s fantastic to see the children energised and excited about writing.”
